January 24, 2011 (Scripps Ranch) – Gusty winds toppled a 100-foot-high eucalyptus tree in Hoyt Park, crashing it down upon a home owned by Art and Terri Moreau on Canyon Lake Drive in Scripps Ranch. Although the massive tree crushed the home’s roof and damaged a kitchen and bedroom, fortunately no one was injured.

The homeowners’ daughter, Molly, was downstairs when she heard a large boom."[It] sounded like an earthquake hit and a lot of the destruction looks like it too," she told 10 News.

"It was absolutely howling in the backyard,” Terri Moreau said of the high winds.

Her husband and rushed home from work after receiving a call from Terri and arrived to find the backside of the house “taken out,” he said.
