February 14, 2010 (La Mesa) San Diego County Credit Union and Mart Liquor store were robbed yesterday, La Mesa Police Department reports. Police seek suspects in both cases and Crime Stoppers has announced rewards.

Shortly after 1 p.m., a lone robber entered the credit union at 8555 Fletcher Parkway and presented the clerk with a note demanding money. The note said the robber was armed, though the clerk did not see a weapon. The thief took cash and left on foot. He is described as a white man in his 40s with brown hair in a pony tail, clean shaven, wearing a long-sleeved black shirt tucked into khaki pants, with black shoes. No vehicle was seen or heard. LMPD, with help from the Sheriff’s ASTREA helicopter, searched the area but did not find the suspect.

In a separate incident, a masked man armed with a black, semi-automatic handgun held up the Mart Liquor Store at 9685 La Mesa Boulevard at 9:40 p.m. He pointed the gun at a clerk and demanded money from the register, as well as cigarettes. He left with the money and cigarettes and was last seen running east through an alley near 8700 La Mesa Blvd. He is described as a white man, 25, 6 feet, 2 inches, 190 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes. He wore a brown and gray striped sweater, blue jeans, black leather gloves and a white mask concealing his face.
