September 25, 2011 (San Diego’s East County) – A warrant sweep conducted by Sheriff’s deputies yesterday has led to the arrest of 33 fugitives. The 7-hour operation, conducted by the Sheriff’s Court Services Department Field Unit and San Diego Fugitive Task Force, included the cities of El Cajon, La Mesa and Santee as well as unincorporated portions of the County in Alpine, El Cajon and Lakeside.

According to Sheriff’s Sgt. Trinidad Tejeda, the sweep cleared 36 misdemeanor and six felony warrants, with 33 arrests, including one fugitive who was found in possession of heroin. The sweep was part of increased effort in recent months to crack down on warrant suspects.

The San Diego Sheriff's Department urged those with outstanding warrants to turn themselves in at a court facility during business hours.
