4 SERIOUSLY INJURED IN SANTEE VALENTINE’S DAY CRASH

February 15, 2016 (Santee) – Four young people suffered serious injuries after the vehicle they were in crashed into concrete barriers, coming to rest in a hole at a construction site in Santee.

Santee deputies responded to the call at 1:14 a.m. on February 14 at Princess Joann Road and Ironwood Avenue in Santee. Upon arrival, deputies saw two young men with serious injuries being tended to by citizens. Two other male occupants were trapped in the vehicle, unconscious but breathing. The two trapped occupants were removed by Fire Department Paramedics.

All four victims were in their late teens or early twenties, the Sheriff Department reports.  The four injured persons were transported by ground ambulance for varying degrees of serious injuries. Two went to Sharp Memorial while two went to Mercy Hospital.

Speed was a factor in the collision, authorities report. Santee Station Traffic Deputies are handling the investigation.
