March 23, 2017 (La Mesa) – ECM volunteer broadcaster Kim Cooney took her beagle, Angus, to Harry Griffen Park in La Mesa on St. Patrick’s Day.  Canine Corners, a nonprofit that maintains the dog park there, set up a “St. Pawtrick’s Day” photo booth complete with Irish props for pups of all ages.

East County Magazine Editor Miriam Raftery and her husband, Mark, also posed with their dogs, golden retriever Ginger and Juneau, a husky.

Canine Corners

I have brought my dog Angus to the Harry Griffen dog park since he was a puppy. What is nice about the dog park is it has three different areas for the dogs. One is for the little dogs, another is for the big dogs, and a third is if you want a little more privacy with your dog and you can throw your balls to him or her in a smaller setting. It's a great park where you can meet up with your dog friends and your human friends. Since Canine Corners, a non-profit organization, runs the dog park, everyone is welcome to volunteer their services and donate towards the organization. There are events during the year, including a Halloween costume contest, a walk down the main part of La Mesa on flag day in June and other events that include dog adoptions and representatives from Petco/Unleashed to answer any questions you might have about your pet's diet, etc. It's a great time had by all, including your four-legged friends.

ECM has gone to the dogs!

And what a relief from all that boring national news. The dogs have the right attitude -- who cares. . . .Give us more dogs and fewer politicians, that would be an improvement (but not too helpful actually).
