July 12, 2016 (San Diego) - The atmosphere at Petco Park for the 2016 All-Star Game was electric, and rightly so; what a show it was.

As All-Star Games always do, the game got off to a fast start.  The National League (that’s what we want because that’s where the Padres are, remember?) got things started with Chicago Cub Kris Bryant’s solo shot off of Chicago White Sox ace Chris Sale.

But that was cut short quickly in the second when three--THREE--Kansas City Royals homered off San Francisco’s Johnny Cueto to give the AL a 3-1 lead.

Padres pitcher Derrew Pomeranz pitched quick 1-2-3 inning, while Wil Myers hit a double in his appearance.  But the American League won their fourth All-Star Game in a row 4-2.

The Padres start the second half of the season Friday at Petco against the New York Yankees.  The first pitch is at 7:40 p.m.
