Mariachis will be performing, and the downtown merchants will be serving Cinco de Mayo food and drink specials May 4 (a day before cinco de Mayo) from 5-9 p.m. Car Show Ambassador, Steve Lordigyan, a car collector himself, says "This night is always fun because we often see cars we rarely see throughout the season."

The holiday of Cinco de Mayo celebrates the victory of the Mexicans over the French at The Battle of Puebla in 1862. The people of Puebla, Mexico mainly celebrate the regional holiday while there is some celebration in the other states in Mexico. The holiday has become very popular as a celebration in the United States of America. Many people in the U.S. think the celebration is for Mexican independence. However, Mexican Independence is celebrated on September 16. For more information on this celebration, see: Cinco de Mayo history
