Artwork by Loretta Deczynski of El Cajon on exhibit at La Mesa health library

September 24, 2012 (La Mesa)--The Dr. William C. Herrick Community Health Care Library, a consumer health library in La Mesa, is currently featuring an exhibit of 21 paintings by El Cajon artist Loretta Deczynski through the month of September. The artwork showcases nine different media, including pastel, graphite and charcoal.

Deczynski developed her love for drawing at an early age, but did not pursue it until later in life when she was disabled by carpal tunnel syndrome. Art then became therapy for her hands. Her work featuring flowers, figures and animals can be seen at www.lorettaart.com.

Deczynski is a member of the Foothills Art Association, East County Art Association, Southwestern Artists Association and Pastel Society of San Diego. Her previous exhibit venues this year have included Spanish Village Art Center in Balboa Park and San Diego Hospice.

Admission to the Herrick Community Health Care Library is free. The painting exhibit is open to the public during regular library hours, which are from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesdays, from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Wednesdays through Fridays, and from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturdays.
