GOVERNOR SIGNS BILL TO LET VOTERS UNABLE TO GO TO POLLS TO DESIGNATE ANOTHER PERSON TO RETURN BALLOT

October 1, 2016 (San Diego) -- A bill by California State Assemblywoman Lorena Gonzalez (D-San Diego) allowing voters to designate a person of their own choosing to return a completed mail ballot to the proper drop-off location or post office was signed into law by the Governor last week.  It will take effect in 2017.

San Diego County Tribe Donates $10,000 to ALS Association

September 5, 2014 (Lakeside) – The Barona Band of Mission Indians is proud to join the worldwide effort to raise donations and awareness for the ALS Association through the Ice Bucket Challenge. Barona Tribal Chairman Clifford LaChappa proudly accepted the challenge from Sycuan Tribal Chairman Danny Tucker.

VOTE-BY-MAIL SPECIAL ELECTIONS MAY BE COMING SOON IN SAN DIEGO COUNTY

September 2, 2014 (San Diego's East County) - The ballot box may soon be a relic of the past for voters in special elections.

A bill on the Governor’s desk would allow the Registrar of Voters to conduct all special elections entirely by mail.  San Diego has had many special elections in recent years, including mayor, city council, state legislature and Congress.
