July 7, 2015 (San Diego's East County) – On July 1st, 300 people flocked to their local Barons Market to enjoy cold brews and gourmet appetizers for the local speakeasy known as Barons Backroom Beer Pairings. Beer lovers and foodies in Alpine, Temecula, Wildomar, Rancho Bernardo and Point Loma helped the family-owned business raise $3,000 for the San Diego Food Bank in just two hours. After almost two years of perfecting its Backroom Beer Pairings, last night Barons hosted the event at all five locations in Southern California for the first time.

Greg Dunne, produce manager at Baron’s Market in Alpine, says the Beer Pairing there was  “a huge success - a sellout. Garage Brewing Co. was the brew served, everything provided by Barons from deli sandwiches to ice cream cookies, to the brew. My station (of the four sample stations) passed out the most samples of delicious Marshmallow Milk Stout from Garage Brewing Co. We even had live music…Barons is planning to do this quarterly, so don't miss out on the next one - it was fun! Check out listings on Barns web site. http://www.baronsmarket.com/.”

“This event embodies everything Barons believes in – bringing our community together, giving back and of course, quality beer and food,” says Barons Marketing Manager Rachel Shemirani. “We’re proud to donate one hundred percent of the proceeds to the San Diego Food Bank -- an organization that delivers millions of pounds of food each year so everyone has enough to eat. That’s something Barons will cheers to.”

Barons Backroom Beer Pairings take on a speakeasy feel as the market transforms its back rooms and loading docks into a beer and food lover’s paradise. The July 1 tasting featured coveted microbrews from Temecula-based Garage Brewing Co. paired with untraditional Fourth of July appetizers to create all-American flavors.

The popular menu included:

  • Garage Brewing Belgian Tripel paired with Baron’s white chicken chili and Tacupeto chips
  • Garage Brewing Hatch Chili IPA paired with pulled pork sliders
  • Garage Brewing Double IPA paired with roasted red pepper, blue cheese and tri-tip sandwiches
  • Garage Brewing Marshmallow Milk Stout paired with Baron’s chocolate-chip cookie ice cream sandwiches

Microbrew aficionados can save the date for the next pairing on Wednesday, September 30. To learn more about Barons Market and stay up-to-date with its Backroom Beer Pairings, please visit baronsmarket.com.
