BASEBALL STARS TURNED OUT TO HONOR TONY GWYNN AT PRIVATE FAMILY MEMORIAL

June 23, 2014 (San Diego)--The Gwynn family held a private memorial service for Tony Gwynn at the Conrad Prebys Aztec Student Union on the campus of San Diego State University on June 21. The family was joined by approximately 200 close friends and representatives from SDSU, major-league baseball and the National Baseball Hall of Fame.

Pall bearers included Quintin Berry, Bud Black, Landon Burt, Damian Jackson, Broderick Perkins and Tim Zier. Bishop Donnie N. McGriff Sr. presided over the ceremony. And Clarence Cureton delivered the eulogy.

Those in attendance from the Hall of Fame included President Jeff Idelson, Rod Carew, Cal Ripkin, Ozzie Smith, Barbara Robinson (Frank Robinson's wife) and Dave Winfield.

A public tribute will be held at Petco Park on Thursday, June 26 at 7:19 pm.
