June 27, 2011 (Lemon Grove) – A fire that started in a barbecue smoker at Coops West Texas Barbecue in Lemon Grove on June 23 spread to the roof. However Heartland Fire & Rescue firefighters quickly contained the blaze in about 15 minutes.
The restaurant is located at 2625 Lemon Grove Avenue. Some other media outlets mistakenly reported this as Barnes Barbecue, which previously occupied the space for many years. Barnes Barbecue recently moved to a new location at 7820 Broadway in downtown Lemon Grove.
