August 30, 2016 (Atlanta) - After a C+ series in Miami, the Padres ended August by traveling to legendary Turner Field in Atlanta to take on the Braves.  Edwin Jackson started against Braves ace Julio Teheran.

If the Braves are the worst team in the NL East, they have a funny way of showing it.  After Teheran’s double in the third, Adonis Garcia, who really lives up to his name, singled and scored him and the Braves took a 1-0 lead.  Freddie Freeman singled, scoring Ender Inciarte and the Braves went up 2-0.  Tyler Flowers hit a sac fly to score Garcia and the Braves’ lead was 3-0.  Jace Peterson singled to score Freeman.  4-0 Braves.  Dansby Swanson singled to score Nick Markakis and the Braves led 5-0.

The Padres got some reprieve in the fourth with new Padre Oswaldo Arcia’s two-run homer to make the score 5-2.

But the Braves pulled further away.  Dansby Swanson doubled in the fifth to score two and the Braves took a 7-2 lead.

The Padres scored one run in the ninth, but the Braves would take game one 7-3.

Game two is tomorrow at 4:10 p.m. Paul Clemens will start against Matt Wisler.
