BURGLARY SUSPECT BUSTED IN RAMONA

February 14, 2014 (Ramona)—Matilda Abaez, 42, has been arrested after residents found her inside a neighbor’s garage and called  for help.  Sheriff’s deputies responded to a call of a burglary in progress shortly before 2 p.m. today in the 200 block of Kalbaught Street, Ramona.

“ Abeaz was removing property from the garage when she was confronted by a neighbor,” said Sergeant Brent Strahm. “ Deputies arrived a few moments later and detained the suspect. Deputies investigated the incident and found Abaez, who lived in the area, was in possession of burglary tools and had committed a burglary. Abaez was also under the influence of a controlled substance, in possession of drug paraphernalia and in possession of a small amount of a narcotic substance.”

 Deputies arrested Abaez for residential burglary, possession of burglary tools and drug-related charges. Detectives from the Ramona Substation will be handling the follow-up investigation as they are looking into other burglaries in the area.
