SUPERVISORS APPROVE ANDERSON’S NEIGHBORHOOD REINVESTMENT PROGRAM GRANT ALLOCATIONS

More than a dozen East County organizations receive funding for ongoing projects

March 12, 2022 (San Diego’s East County) — San Diego County Supervisor Joel Anderson awarded more than a dozen organizations in East County with funds from the Neighborhood Reinvestment Program (NRP) grant at the March 1, 2022, Board of Supervisors meeting. These organizations received amounts ranging from $800 to $75,000 for ongoing projects. The goal of the NRP grant is to reinvest taxpayer money into our communities for the benefit of the public.

October 17, 2018 (San Diego's East County) – A low-profile, political race for a state office to represent nearly 10 million residents in five Southern California counties may be falling under the radar for many voters.  

Up for grabs is an open seat for District 4 on the California Board of Equalization (BOE), a state agency that oversees county property tax assessors and sets other taxes, including the alcoholic beverage tax, railroad car tax and taxes for public utilities and insurers. District 4 encompasses all of San Diego, Imperial, Riverside and Orange counties and a small portion of San Bernardino County.

September 26, 2018 (San Diego) - State Sen. Joel Anderson was at least a little tipsy and rubbing a lobbyist’s shoulders during a political fundraiser at a steakhouse near the Capitol last month when he leaned in close and told her he wanted to “bitch slap” her.

December 5, 2016 (El Cajon) – California Sen. Joel Anderson (R-Alpine) will host his annual Legislative Open House from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 7, at Toyota of El Cajon, 965 Arnele Ave., El Cajon. The free event is an opportunity for Anderson and his staff to meet with constituents and hear ideas on new legislation for 2017. All attendees will receive a 2016 legislative update and an opportunity to submit ideas to improve state government. Anderson says several of the bills he has introduced in the past originated from suggestions by attendees to this annual event. Donated hors d’oeuvres and refreshments will be provided by local businesses and community partners. SENATE DEFEATS ANDERSON EFFORT TO OVERRIDE GOVERNOR’S VETO OF BILL TO CRACK DOWN ON DATE RAPE DRUGS

January 9, 2016 (San Diego’s East County) — Senate Bill 333, a measure that would have made it a felony to possess drugs used for date rape, was vetoed last fall by Governor Jerry Brown.  The measure had passed both the Assembly and Senate unanimously.
