December 13, 2012 (El Cajon) – Two community leaders,  Hani Daymia, President of the Chaldean American Association, and Ben Kalasho today donated 300 toys for children in East County to brighten their holiday season.

The Chaldean American Association is a social club located in El Cajon. Chaldean Americans represent 38% of El Cajon’s population, a segment that continues to grow each year. Daymia is the current president of the Chaldean American Association and has been a leading advocate for community involvement and outreach.

Kalasho has been active in the community for many years and has volunteered his time in various community affairs and philanthropy. Together, Kalasho and Daymia of The Chaldean American Association have teamed up with Santee Santas, a non-profit organization that brings the spirit of the holidays to East County, annually providing up to 300 families in the community with toys for the children and food for the holidays.

The toy drive was held at the Crystal Ballroom in El Cajon. Others wishing to donate to the toy drive may contact Ben Kalasho at 619-244-6220

When asked about the event, Daymia replied, "We will put a smile on the faces of those children who otherwise wouldn’t have had a gift, and as Chaldean Americans we are proud to do that for every child.”

Kalasho stated, “I could just imagine the children’s faces lighting up with joy once they receive these gifts; their joy would bring me happiness. Children are our future, let us not forget that.”
