November 20, 2015 (Spring Valley ) – A 17-year-old attempting to jump off a bridge at Troy Street over State Route 125 in Spring Valley was saved by the courageous actions of local law enforcement officers.

Shortly before 4 p.m., the youth had made his way across to the bridge with his back to the fence.  California Highway Patrol officers arrived at 4:05 p.m. and stopped traffic as the boy was leaning forward, preparing to jump, said Officer Kevin Pearlstein.

Officers spoke with the juvenile from the bridge, urging him not to jump.  Meanwhile a CHP officer made his way up an embankment and was able to grab the young man, preventing him from jumping.  Sheriff’s deputies then pulled the juvenile over the fence to safety.

Deputies transported him to Grossmont Hospital for an evaluation.
