CHRIS KLICH JAZZ QUINTET PERFORMS TUES. MARCH 23 AS BENEFIT FOR CUYAMACA COLLEGE

March 16, 2010 (El Cajon) -- The Chris Klich Jazz Quintet with Laura Preble will be performing a concert Tuesday, March 23, 2010, at Cuyamaca College, 900 Rancho San Diego Parkway, from 7:30pm to 9pm.

 

The group will feature Chris on alto, soprano and tenor sax, clarinet and flute; Ed Kornhauser on piano; Brian Wright on bass; Pete Woods on drums; Alan Worthington on guitar; Laura Preble on vocals; and they’ll be playing jazz classics, standards, and original jazz compositions at this performance.

 

The concert will take place in the l new performance theater on the campus, and this will be a fundraiser for the Cuyamaca College Music Department. Admision is $8 General, $5 students and seniors.

Chris Klich and his band was named the number one audience favorite jazz band in the San Diego Union-Tribune’s Reader’s Poll 2002, and has been nominated as "best jazz" in the last five annual San Diego Music Awards.

 

Chris is a native of San Diego, who grew up in the North County. After graduating from Torrey Pines High, he earned a Bachelor's degree in jazz studies at U.C.S.D. in 1983, studying under jazz master Jimmy Cheatham, and a Master’s in Jazz Studies at San Diego State University in 2005. Chris teaches at Grossmont College as an adjunct professor of music.

 

Chris has been a full-time musician for 30 years, performing jazz, blues, and other forms of music. In addition to the Chris Klich Jazz Quintet, Chris is a featured soloist in many other groups, including the Coastal Cities Jazz Band, the Rhythm Method, Big Time Operator, Big Daddy Orchestra, the Fabulous Ultratones, The San Diego Concert Jazz Band, Ira B. Liss Big Band Jazz Machine, and the Rhythmakers. He is also a first-call studio player, with an extensive discography.
