August 9, 2016 (La Mesa) –  The Dr. William C. Herrick Community Health Care Library, a consumer health library at 9001 Wakarusa St. in La Mesa, is now hosting its Summer Art Exhibit featuring 19 watercolor paintings by award-winning artist Marilyn Hadley Hallam of La Mesa. The show runs through September 30. The exhibit features paintings of San Diego and Southern California landmarks, as well as landscapes.

July 24, 2016 (El Cajon) - See “Around the World in 80 Days,” a timeless tale of amazing adventures as Phineas Fogg attempts to circumnavigate the globe in less than 80 days in order to win a sizeable wager.  The play is based on the novel Around the World in 80 Days by Jules Verne.

July 19, 2016 (San Diego) - The first ever Amateur Pianists San Diego International Piano Competition For Outstanding Amateurs was held in San Diego from July 15 – 17^th at Point Loma Nazarene University. The creator behind it, Glenn Kramer, is to be given credit for not only making it happen but for growing the largest amateur piano Meet Up Group (an online way to organize special interest groups) in the country. 

Kramer’s Amateur Pianists Meet Up members include residents in East, North, and South County, as well as San Diego proper.

June 3, 2016 (La Mesa) – The Dr. William C. Herrick Community Health Care Library is now hosting its Spring Art Exhibit featuring 19 watercolor paintings by award-winning artist Carol Roberts of Spring Valley. The show runs through June 30. The exhibit features paintings of landscapes, animals, birds, flowers and scenery, some of them inspired by Roberts’ scuba diving trips to New Guinea, Palau and Fiji.

May 26, 2016 (Lemon Grove) -- The Lemon Grove Historical Society will be back in the Lemon Grove Library, 3001 School Lane, on May 28 at 2 p.m. with part II of its remembrance of the Vietnam War.  The event honors our military on the Memorial Day weekend and is an opportunity to learn more about the war that many would prefer to forget, but that scarred an entire generation in both the U.S. and Vietnam.

May 21, 2016 (La Mesa) – The City of La Mesa’s free family fun “Concerts at Six” series will be held once again in Harry Griffen Park (8550 Milden Street) each Sunday  evening from 6 to 7 p.m.   The season opens June 12 and runs through July 24.

For the season opener, the San Diego Concert Band will perform. Other musical entertainment through the season will include Rhythm and the Method, Jazz West, Sonic Epidemic, Silvermine, and Big Band Ambassadors.  For a full schedule of entertainers, scroll down:
