April 2, 2013 (El Cajon, CA) -- On April 12 San Diego Las Hermanas will hold A Comedy Classic: A night of Friends and Laughter. The event will feature live entertainment, dinner and a live auction to raise funds for two non-profit charities, Fostering Opportunities-Dollars for Scholars, and Include Autism’s Community Coaching Center.

The evening promises to be extremely entertaining: Mike Pace is an Emmy nominee for HBO’s Comic Relief; Jeff Capri has appeared on Last Comic Standing and Ed McMahon’s Next Big Star; and Dave Burleigh’s voice impressions were showcased on America’s Got Talent. In an electrifying mixture of art and music, Stephen Fishwick will create an “Art Attack,” and his painting will be part of the evening’s live auction.

Las Hermanas, originally founded in 1960 as part of the Children’s Home Society, became an independent organization in 2001, in order to focus on the needs of children and young adults in East County.

“We believe that having the opportunity to make a difference in the life of others, no matter how small, is an incredible gift, and the minute we joined SDLH we instantly had 25 new sisters right here in East County, who are deeply committed to making a difference,” said Co-Chairs Nancy Smith and Deborah Wermers. “We think it is important to know that 100 percent of the funds we raise go directly to a carefully selected charity in our community,” they added.

Fostering Opportunities Dollars for Scholars provides personal mentors and financial support for foster youth in San Diego County, to help them achieve their educational goals. Through FODFS, students are paired with mentors and offered financial support. It is an all-volunteer organization managed by an all-volunteer Board of Directors.

The Community Coaching Center’s mission is to nurture the development of socially appropriate skills and behaviors in school aged individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders while promoting community acceptance and inclusion.
