May 30, 2016 (San Diego) - Score one for the Padres. Major League Baseball has completed its investigation and concluded that human error, not any intentional action, was responsible for the mix-up during the San Diego Gay Men’s Chorus appearance at a recent Padres game.

A tape of a woman singing the national anthem mistakenly played when the chorus was on the field, causing humiliation to choral members. But the MLB, after interviewing dozens of people involved, found that the lead entertainment supervisor was in a traffic collision the day before and had taken the game day off, leaving employees who were “insufficiently trained” in charge, Times of San Diego reports.

The incident drew national attention.  The Padres apologized and fired a DJ responsible. San Diego Gay Men’s Chorus has accepted the apology and asked that he be reinstated.

Padres President and CEO Mike Dee has said the DJ, Art Romero who uses the stage name DJ Artform, will be reinstated “in a role to be determined.”

The Padres, citing the team’s long record of inclusion, have invited the chorus to return for a future game.
