Ribbon Cutting is Scheduled for Thursday, January 26, 2012
January 11, 2012, Rancho San Diego) -- The highly anticipated new County of San Diego Aquatics Center at the McGrath Family YMCA in Rancho San Diego will celebrate its ribbon cutting ceremony on Thursday, January 26, 2012 at 11:30 a.m. The state of the art facility, located at 12006 Campo Road, is in a position to provide a variety of programs that help kids and adults learn water safety skills, develop confidence in and around the water and enjoy the benefits of water exercise.
Thanks to three major supporters of the East County Family YMCA and its life changing programs (The County of San Diego, the Mattia Family in remembrance of Amir Mattia, and the Page Family in honor of Evelyn Page), this much needed Aquatics Center will feature:
- The Evelyn Page Indoor Warm Water Pool. This pool will be great for water exercise, swim lessons and lap swim year round. Features a retractable glass roof.
- The Amir Mattia Family Outdoor Pool, Splash Pad, Oversized Spa and Equipment Building. These features of the center will offer competitive swim, water polo, and lap swim.
- The Splash Pad will feature a bucket dump, spurting palm tree, fountains, and shooting water along with a poolside family picnic area.

We look forward to seeing this beautiful Aquatic Center being filled with children and families participating in programming that will change lives for the better.”
In addition to the new Aquatics Center, this YMCA includes a state of the art Sports Complex, a 35,000 sq.ft. full-service facility with: the Sycuan Wellness/Fitness Center, the Dallas Pugh Gymnasium, Multi-Purpose and Conference rooms, a Youth and Teen Development Center and multiple Group Exercise Studios. There is also a Member Lounge and Child Watch Center while members work-out.
