July 15, 2014 (San Diego) – What if you were assaulted by a robber and sprayed the attacker with pepper spray – only to have Silly String emerge from the can instead?

A Texas woman, has filed suit against Sting and String, a  manufacturer who makes both products, alleging that a mixup at the manufacturing facility left her defenseless.  While walking her dog, Joanne Lewis says she suffered minor injuries and was robbed of her cell phone and cash.

Reaching into her purse, she shouted, “Take that,” only to have silly string pop out of the can she sprayed at her assailant.  Then she says, “the guy began to laugh in my face, and then pushed me to the ground.”

The victim also asks whether children could be harmed if Silly String cans turn out to contain pepper spray.

The company has recalled Sting and String, and recommends that customers do a test spray before using any of these items, Empire News reports.
