April 7, 2016 (Lakeside) – A 9-year-old girl was been taken into protective custody this morning after patrol deputies from the Lakeside substation found her living in a small shed with her father and a woman at 12721 Lindo Lane in Lakeside. The discovery occurred during a probation compliance check in which six men and 2 women were arrested on charges that included child endangerment as well as drug, weapons, and parole violations.

“There were no facilities in the shed, and it was uninhabitable,” said Sergeant Mike McNeill.  The shed, which had no electricity or running water, also contained a shotgun, a rifle, 8.1 grams of methamphetamine, and indications of narcotics sales.

A representative from Child Protective Services’ Drug Endangered Children section responded and took the child into protective custody.

Charges included felony child endangerment, felon in possession of a firearm, felon in possession of a stun gun, possession of controlled substances for sale (methamphetamine), sales of a controlled substance near a school, possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), possession of a dangerous drug (heroin), possession of narcotic paraphernalia and probation violations.

Additionally, an agent from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms responded to evaluate for possible federal charges and will be conferring with the Assistant U.S. Attorney.

Representatives from the Department of Environmental Health as well as County Code Enforcement also responded to the location and will be evaluating the property for habitability and conformance to county code regulations.

Call Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477 with information and you will remain anonymous. You may be eligible for up to a $1,000 reward for information leading to a felony arrest.

Tragic

The neighbors knew or should have known.
There was a meth man living in a rental house next to me and I heard a lot of crazy-talk. He washed his run down car at one AM! A neighbor is a dry wall contractor and offered the guy a job, Howard told me he couldn't follow simple directions, paid him for one day's work.
I called the Sheriff, there was a warrant for his arrest...gone.
