August 31, 2016 (Sacramento) - Two bills now on the Governor’s desk aim to help California parents afford diapers for young children.

One measure would provide a $50 a month diaper voucher to families on welfare with children under age two. The benefit would be through the state’s CalWORKs program starting in 2020 if signed by Governor Jerry Brown.

A second bill before the Governor would exempt diapers from California sales tax, helping all families with children in diapers statewide. That measure would also exempt tampons and other feminine hygiene products from sales tax.
