June 12, 2009 (Escondido) – Police have arrested a 55-year-old Escondido man after he robbed the U.S. Bank on Broadway in Escondido Thursday—for the second time in a month.
The alleged thief handed a teller a note demanding cash shortly after 4:30 p.m., then put the cash in a black messenger’s bag and left. Officers spotted the man walking east on Grand Avenue near Kalmia Street and ordered him to stop, but he fled. The man sustained injuries on his forearm from a dog bite by a police dog used to subdue him, and was treated at a hospital. Authorities recovered about $1,460 in the June 11th robbery. The suspect is believed to have held up the same bank on May 13, when more than $4,000 was stolen, authorities reported.
