January 30, 2018 (El Cajon) --- The driver of a green Ford pickup truck that crashed into a business at 1417 North Cuyamaca Street in El Cajon yesterday afternoon was taken to a hospital, where he later died of severe injuries.  The identity of the victim, a 46-year-old African-American man, is being withheld pending notification of his family.

The accident occurred around 1:15 p.m. yesterday.  Witnesses told El Cajon Police that the Ford was traveling east on Swallow Drive when it ran a red light, crossing the intersection at Cuyamaca, where it left the roadway and crashed into the business.

“It is unknown at this time if drugs or alcohol were a factor in this collision,” says Lt. Stephen Kirk with the El Cajon Police Department.  Anyone with information regarding this collision to call (619) 579-3311.

Lt. Kirk adds, “We would also like to remind those driving vehicles to please pay extra attention to the roadway and obey all traffic laws.”
