May 21, 2017 (Lemon Grove) – The driver of a green Honda Accord died after a high-speed accident in the 3200 block of Sweetwater Road in Lemon Grover yesterday.  The young man, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected onto the roadway.

Witnesses told investigating officers that the driver was traveling south on Sweetwater at a high speed when he apparently lost control of his vehicle and struck a cinder block wall outside a residence.  The force of the impact caused the driver’s side door to open, ejecting the driver, said Sergeant Jorge Dueno, traffic sergeant with the Lemon Grove Sheriff substation.

The driver’s name is being withheld pending notification of family.  He was Hispanic, born in 1990.

Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the deadly crash, though a final determination will be made following an autopsy.  Excessive speed is considered the primary cause of the accident.

Sweetwater Road was shut down into the evening for the investigation.
