May 14, 2018 (Santee) – Mary’s Donuts in Santee is not a drive-thru restaurant.  But a driver crashed into the building just a few feet from the donut shop on Carlton Hills Blvd. on Sunday, causing the vehicle to roll onto its side.

The outcome was far from sweet for this unexpected visitor.  Firefighters had to use the “jaws of life” to free the driver from the wreckage. He was taken to a hospital with a leg injury, Santee Patch.com reports.

An engineer was called out to assess damage to the structure. Fortunately, other businesses in the building were closed when the crash occurred, and no injuries to donut store patrons or employees were reported.
