DRIVER INJURED, DOG DIES IN CRASH NEAR RAMONA

May 8, 2011 (Ramona) – A man who swerved to avoid hitting an animal has suffered injuries in a roll-over crash that killed his own dog inside the vehicle.  The accident occurred yesterday around 4:30 p.m. on Ramona Oaks Road in an unincorporated area near Ramona.

According to 10 News, the man was driving a Chevy pickup truck when an animal ran out in front of his vehicle. Veering to try and prevent an accident, the driver lost control and his truck rolled over, ironically killing his own dog.

The man was rescued from the crash and taken to Palomar Hospital, where he was treated for fractures to his arms and hands, a firefighter told 10 news.
