EAST COUNTY IS LIT UP FOR THE HOLIDAYS

East County Magazine readers who wish to see some elaborate holiday lights and decorations can head to several neighborhoods in towns across East County to drive by and enjoy these sparkling sights of the season.

In El Cajon, Jingle Bell Hill has been popularly known as Pepper Drive Lights in the past. Houses in the neighborhood area of Solomon Avenue and Pegreen Place off Highway 67 and Bradley Drive will be decked out through Dec. 26.

For 50 years decorations at 1838 El Pico Drive off Hacienda Drive in El Cajon have been “over the top.” This year continues the tradition with a 20 ft. star that is 100 feet high, along with a 55 ft. train.

Lights on miniature trees, house and lawn with Santa and his reindeer delight at 7390 Stanford Ave. in La Mesa in contrast with several giant inflatables.

Spectators can experience lights aligned with the music of over 15 Christmas songs, aired on 88.5 FM, at 6266 De Camp Drive in La Mesa. There is a 22 ft. tree, penguins, and more.

 

Lemon Grove is lit up until Jan. 1 from 5:30-9:30 p.m. over at 2618 Sheri Lane where a cul-de-sac is turned into Santa Claus Lane each December. A light show plays every 30 minutes starting at 6: 30 p.m., and can be heard on 89.9 FM

 

Happy Lights Ramona uses 20,000 plus lights animated to a musical broadcast on 106.9 FM Sunday-Thursday from 5:30-10 p.m. and on Fridays and Saturdays from 5:30-11 p.m. A longer running display, this neighborhood will be illuminated till Jan. 1.

 

San Carlos has displays through Dec. 31 in the evenings till 9 p.m. in the block of 7900 and 8000 Hillandale Dr. off Mission Gorge and Deerfield.

Sunburst Santee has many homes on Tomel Court off Magnolia that participate till Dec. 26 from 7-10 p.m. with lit up displays. Also in Santee at 9773 Roe Drive, 27,000 Christmas Lights dance to ten songs over 128 computer-controlled channels through Dec. 31. Food Bank and American Cancer Society donations are accepted and visitors can go to www.DBChristmas.com.

 

Lakeside displays Tinsel Town through Dec. 25 , which includes 20 houses at 10248 Paseo Palmas Drive. Then at 13518 Appaloosa Drive, 48 channels of lights twinkle to 88.1 FM through Jan. 1.
