April 25, 2017 (Phoenix) - The Padres’ rally against the Dbacks last night was cut short with only a run left to go.  They got another chance tonight with Clayton Richard on the mound against Patrick Corbin for Arizona.

Unlike the Padres, the Diamondbacks actually know how to hold an early lead.  Paul Goldschmidt homered in the first to give the Dbacks a 1-0 lead.

In the second, Chris Owings tripled to score Nick Ahmed and A.J. Pollock and the Dbacks led 3-0.  Goldschmidt singled to score Owings and the lead was 4-0.

Yangervis Solarte finally got the Padres on the board with a single that scored Wil Myers.  The Dbacks still led 4-1.

That wasn't an issue; the snakes just added on.  Pollock doubled in the fourth to score Ahmed.  5-1.  Owings singled to score Pollock.  6-1.

In the fifth, Daniel Descalso continued the slaughter with a home run to make it 7-1.

Goldschmidt doubled to left in the sixth to score Pollock.  An error by Jabari Blash advanced Goldie to third and the score was 8-1.  Yasmany Tomas hit a sac fly to score him and the Dbacks led 9-1.

Blash redeemed himself in the seventh with a solo homer to right to make the score 9-2.

Luis Sardinas got the Padres to within six in the eighth on a single to right field to score Hunter Renfroe and the lead was 9-3 Diamondbacks.

Game three is tomorrow at, yet again, 6:40 p.m.  Trevor Cahill starts for the Padres against Taijuan Walker for the Dbacks.
