May 20, 2017 (San Diego) - Last night was...uh...well anyway, tonight was a new night and a new game. Robbie Ray started on the mound for Arizona against Luis Perdomo.
Despite how well Perdomo has been pitching, he choked immediately, just like Jered Weaver did last night. Paul Goldschmidt singled in the first to score two. Jake Lamb, who had been such a thorn in the Padres’ side last night, doubled to score Goldschmidt. The cherry on top was Chris Hermann’s two-run homer that gave the Dbacks a 5-0 lead.
In the second, more blood was drawn. Yasmany Tomas singled. Two scored. 7-0 Dbacks.
Arizona took an inning’s rest, but went right back to it in the fourth with Lamb’s single that scored David Peralta. The Dbacks led 8-0.
The snakes added one more in the ninth on a wild pitch from Brandon Maurer that Lamb scored on and the snakes led 9-0.
The Padres started a rally in the ninth with the bases loaded. Allen Cordoba singled to score Hunter Renfroe, but that’s all they’d get. The Dbacks would win 9-1 and take the series.
The rubber match is tomorrow at 1:40 p.m. Zack Godley starts for the Dbacks against Clayton Richard.
