May 19, 2017 (San Diego) - You wouldn’t think in 2017 that the Milwaukee Brewers would take a series from any team, but they did from the Padres.  Now the Friars had to regroup as they headed back to NL West play when the Diamondbacks came to town tonight.  Taijuan Walker started on the hill for Arizona against Jered Weaver.

As we all know with the Padres, there’s bad and then there’s--bad.  And the bad started in the top of the first when Jake Lamb blasted a three-run homer for the Dbacks.  Then Brandon Drury added two more with a homer of his own.  Taijuan Walker singled to score Chris Owings.  Weaver left and Miguel Diaz was put in, but it was no use; David Peralta singled to score Walker.  With the bases loaded, Diaz walked Lamb and Gregor Blanco scored.  The Diamondbacks tallied for eight--eight--first inning--first inning--runs and took an 8-0 lead.

The Diamondbacks didn’t care about the Padres’ suffering; they just kept adding to it.  Peralta and Lamb homered in the sixth, Lamb hitting his second of the night and the Diamondbacks reached double digits to take a 10-0 lead.

The Padres started a mini rally in the ninth when Ryan Schimpf singled and Allen Cordoba scored.  Despite taking away the shutout, the Padres were absolutely demoralized tonight, losing 10-1.

Game two is tomorrow night at 7:10 p.m.  Robbie Ray starts for Arizona against Luis Perdomo.
