May 27, 2017 (San Diego) - As expected, the Padres lost last night, but they tried again tonight with Clayton Richard on the mound against SDSU and West Hills alum Stephen Strasburg for the Nationals.

The Padres waited to score, but the Nationals took advantage in the third.  Despite a great diving catch and throw home by Yangervis Solarte, the throw home wasn’t in time and Strasburg scored to give the Nationals the 1-0 lead.

The Nationals were content with that score and the Padres were able to hold them to it for a while, but Michael Taylor wasn’t.  In the sixth, he lobbed a two-run homer to center and the Nats leaped up to a 3-0 lead.  They held that to the end to take the game and the series.

Be ready to wake up early.  Tomorrow’s rubber match is at 10:35 a.m.  Jhoulys Chacin will start against Joe Ross for the Nats.
