WORLD MARKETS SINK AMID EUROPE DEBT WORRIES
 
 

September 12, 2011 (NPR) --  U.S. stocks fell Monday on worries that Greece could be edging closer to defaulting on its debt. The yield on the 10-year Treasury note reached another record low as investors piled into U.S. government debt.

September 9, 2011 (Reuters) -- Egyptian activists destroyed a wall around the Israeli embassy and set police cars on fire in Cairo on Friday after thousands demonstrated at Tahrir Square to push for a timetable for reforms and an end to military trials for civilians. 

 

CHINA LOSING EDGE AS LOW-COST MANUFACTURER, KPMG SAYS

 
September 15, 2011 (BBC) -- China is losing its edge as the world's cheapest place to manufacture goods, a new report suggests. Indonesia and Bangladesh are benefiting most as rising costs in China force firms to switch production, it says.

September 13, 2011 (The Hill) --President Obama's American Jobs Act, which he presented to Congress on Monday, would make it illegal for employers to run advertisements saying that they will not consider unemployed workers, or to refuse to consider or hire people because they are unemployed.

September 13, 2011 (CNN) -- President Barack Obama on Sunday evening helped conclude remembrances of Americans who died in the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks with a message of unity and resolve for the years ahead.
 
 
 
 
NATO: 77 US TROOPS INJURED AFTER TALIBAN HIT AFGHAN/COALITION BASE
 
 
September11, 2011 (CNN) -- All 77 NATO service members wounded in a Saturday attack against a coalition base in Afghanistan are U.S. troops, a spokeswoman for the International Security Assistance Force said Sunday.
 
 
Two Afghan civilians were killed and 25 others also were wounded in the attack, which occurred on the eve of the 10th anniversary of al Qaeda's attack on the United States on 9/11, U.S. Army Sgt. Lindsey Kibler said.
 
 
 
 
STUDENT LOAN DEFAULTS RATES JUMP
 
 
September 12, 2011 (UT) -- The number of borrowers defaulting on federal student loans has jumped sharply, the latest indication that rising college tuition costs, low graduation rates and poor job prospects are getting more and more students over their heads in debt.

September 13,2011 (Los Angeles Times) -- Inhaling a concentrated cloud of insulin through the nose twice a day appears to slow — and in some cases reverse — symptoms of memory loss in people with early signs ofAlzheimer's disease, a new pilot study has found.
 
 
 
 
GENE FIND COULD LEAD TO DRUGS FOR CHRONIC PAIN
