EL CAJON TO HELP SHOW THE MILITARY WE CARE WITH CARE PACKAGES

October 8, 2011 (El Cajon) -- City of El Cajon employees, through its Special Events Committee, is currently collecting items for very special care packages that will be distributed to military members before the holidays.


The theme is “They serve our country – let’s serve them!” The city has expanded the collection efforts to the community.  You can help by donating items, such as: new pairs of heavy duty socks, foot powder, baby powder, baby/body wipes, deodorant, books and DVDs, toothpaste, toothbrush, toiletries, assorted snacks (sorry – no chocolates due to melting) hard candy, gum, sunflower seeds, corn nuts, etc. 

 Monetary donations are also being sought to help mail these care packages to military members serving overseas.  Please call (619) 857-9011 if you would like to donate. Collection boxes can be found at El Cajon Fire Station 6, 100 E. Lexington Avenue; at the El Cajon Federal Credit Union at 266 S Magnolia Ave, Suite # 101 in El Cajon and City Clerk's office/1st floor, 200 Civic Center Way.
