November 3, 2011 (El Cajon)—The City of El Cajon’s Special Events Committee needs your support for its drive to collect items for care packages that will be distributed to overseas military members before the holidays. Donations of items and funds are needed before the November 11 deadline.

Military Care packages enable the public to express support for our men and women in uniform. Sponsoring a care package provides individuals with a way to touch the lives of our deployed troops around the world and bring the comforts of home to our troops.

While the military provides the basics of food, shelter and gear, all of the soldiers must use their military pay to buy personal items and treats. Even if they are willing to pay for them, some personal items are hard to find, especially in combat zones. Military care packages make soldiers' lives a little bit easier and more enjoyable by providing these extras, and we have mailed "a little bit of home" to our sons and daughters serving around the world. Friends and family stateside can still boost morale and offer a taste of home with much-appreciated care packages.

ITEMS TO DONATE INCLUDE:

New Pairs Of Heavy Duty Socks, Baby/Body Wipes, Toothpaste/Toothbrush, Gum, Canned Chili, Foot

Powder, Books, Beef Jerky, Sunflower Seeds, Deodorant, Travel Size Hygiene Products, I Tunes Gift Card, Instant Coffee Mix, Crossword Puzzles, No Chocolate.
