December 14, 2016 (El Cajon) - On Saturday December 17, 2016, El Cajon Valley Lions will box and deliver Christmas food baskets to needy families in El Cajon. Each family will receive turkey and all the fixings and toys for the children. El Cajon Valley Lions have been doing this program in collaboration with the El Cajon Salvation Army for more than 25 years.

This year, the list of 80 families were provided by the El Cajon School District and the El Cajon Salvation Army. Each year the number of families varies. Last year 140 families were recipient of this act of kindness during Christmastime from the El Cajon Lions. This community service project is led by Lions Past President Robert Moreau. Several of the Lions members and Leos (young Lions) will sort, assemble and box the food supplies and deliver them to families.
