October 30, 2009 (Alpine) -- A traditional Kumeyaay blessing, birdsinging and smudging conducted by Viejas Tribal Councilmember Virginia Christman heralded the opening of a new Asian Cuisine restaurant, Far East Winds, at the Viejas Casino in Alpine last week.

Far East Winds expresses  past, present and future contributions of the Chinese in developing the West. The menu encompasses Chinese dishes from the four main regions of China: Cantonese (Southern China); Szechuan (Western China); Mandarin (Northern China); and Shanghainese (Eastern China), each offering a variety of unique flavors.

Far East Winds is located near the new poker room, on the main level of Viejas Casino at 5000 Willow Glen in Alpine.  The restaurant opens at 5pm for dinner Monday – Friday and at 2pm Saturday and Sunday.

I have been to the far east

I have been to the far east and the restaurant and has a beautiful asian decor along with a nice atmosphere. I was very pleased to find a number of vegetarian dishes to choose from along with some wonderful drinks, I will be going there again to try more of their vegetarian fare.
