FIRE NEAR LIVE OAK SPRINGS NOW 40% CONTAINED

Update 4:45 p.m.  The Tierra del Sol fire is 40% contained at 3 acres. There has been structure damage, according to Cal Fire Captain Mike Mohler. Forward spread has been stopped.

 

Update 4:30 p.m.  Incident Page Network reports "many homes threatened."  CHP site indicates reverse 911 calls are being considered though no evacuations have yet been ordered.

 

September 29, 2011 (Live Oak Springs) – A fire at Old Highway 80 and Tierra del Sol has charred two to three acres and has potential to reach 60 acres, according to Cal-Fire Captain Mike Mohler. “It is burning in a rural area in moderate fuel with a moderate rate of spread,” he said.

 

Another fire at Highway 79 near Sunshine Summit/Stoneridge Estates in the Warner Springs area was held to a half-acre and is now out. In addition, an earlier fire at Barona was doused at a quarter acre with no damage to structures.
