July 31, 2011 (San Diego’s East County) – The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch for San Diego County’s mountains and deserts for this afternoon through 8 p.m. this evening. A flash flood warning was also issued for central portions of the County this afternoon including the recently burned areas near Warner Springs and Julian.

Monsoonal moisture in the south flow aloft will bring scattered thunderstorms to mountains and deserts with potential for heavy rainfall and flash flooding.

Persons in or near areas burned in the Eagle Fire should be prepared to act quickly and move to higher ground if thunderstorms develop or warnings are issued, to avoid “very dangerous” situations including flooding and debris flows.
