April 1, 2009 (Escondido)—San Diego Roots and La Milpa Organica are pleased to announce a new educational program for our community. Whether you are a beginning gardener or experienced farmer, this program will take you full circle through a seasonal planting and harvest on a farm.

If you are interested in learning more about food production but only have a couple weekends to spare, this will be a great opportunity to learn everything from composting and irrigation to planting and harvesting, and even taking produce to market! The workshop series will have a focused curriculum run on odd-numbered Saturdays for eight weeks. Space is filling up fast, so early applications are recommended. Workshop cost is $40 for eight classes, materials and lunch included. Scholarships are also available.

Classes start April 4 and are subsequently held on the third Saturdays of the month to coincide with the La Milpa Open House: Film, food, homemade pizza and lots of folks to share.

If you'd like to participate, fill in the online application at www.sandiegoroots.org/farming_workshop.php
