GUHSD is only School District in State to Receive Prestigious Award

June 18, 2012 (El Cajon)—The Grossmont Union High School District announces that it has been awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) for its Fiscal Year 2010/11 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR).
The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management. Approximately 500 municipalities in the state of California submitted CAFRs, and about 300 received an award. Of all the school districts in the state of California, Grossmont is the only district to have received this distinction.

The Grossmont District’s report was judged by an impartial panel that determined it met the high standards of their program, including a constructive spirit of full disclosure to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential uses and user groups to read the CAFR.

The Certificate of Achievement was presented to Scott Patterson, Deputy Superintendent of Business Services, at the June 14 Governing Board meeting by Mr. Dale Nielsen of the Government Finance Officer’s Association.
