HAPPY LUNAR NEW YEAR! YEAR OF THE RABBIT CELEBRATIONS KICK OFF

February 2, 2011 (San Diego’s East County) – Celebrations of the Lunar New Year are planned across San Diego’s eastern regions starting tonight.

Festivities include lion-dancing, meditational music, and Dharma teachings in Escondido at City Heights, Lunar New Year giveaways at several East County casinos, dragon dancers and tomorrow's grand opening of Emerald Asian Cuisine restaurant at Viejas.

ESCONDIDO PERFORMING ARTS CENTER (website also has list of celebrations at the PHAT DA BUDDHIST TEMPLE in City Heights, San Diego: http://www.artcenter.org/performances/. Highlights include lion dancing at 10 p.m. tonight and tomorrow at 9 a.m.at the Phat Da Buddhist Temple, as well as tomorrow (Feb. 3) at noon outside the Jade Buddha special exhibit at the Escondido Performing Arts Center. Meditations, Dharma teachings, and other activities are also planned at these locations through Feb. 5.

 

VIEJAS CASINO: www.viejas.com. Traditional dragon dancers will perform tonight at 6 p.m. Tomorrow at noon, the upscale Emerald Asian Cuisine Restaurant, featuring Chinese and Vietnamese food, will have its grand opening to the public. Viejas Casino is also offering red envelopes for its Lunar New Year celebration; the first time on each day guests clock in to any Pai Gow or Baccarat game, they receive 1 red envelope that contains 1 non-negotiable chip; $5, $25, $100. Promo starts at 10:30am on Thursday February 3rd and runs until 4am on Saturday February 5th. On Thursday February 3rd the Casino also offers extra Asian Games tables (2 Pai Gow and 1 EZ Baccarat) for Lunar New Years guests.

SYCUAN CASINO: www.sycuan.com. Sycuan Casino’s Lunar New Year celebration runs from February 3-5, with lucky red envelop giveaways starting Feb. 3 at 10 a.m. Dim sum buffet is available for seated Asian games and Primrose Room players Saturday at 6 p.m. Lucky lion dancers will perform Thursday and Saturday. The Casino will give away $15,000 in prizes to lucky table game winners.

 

BARONA CASINO: www.barona.com Barona is celebration Lunar New Year for a full two weeks, from Feb. 3-17. Special restaurant menus with authentic meals, VIP prize drawings, and power giveaway hot banks are among the activities, as well as traditional lion and dragon dancers at 7 p.m. on Thursdays, February 3 and 17.
