HEARTLAND FIREFIGHTERS RESCUE WOMAN FROM FIRE IN LEMON GROVE

May 26, 2016 (Lemon Grove) -- Heartland Fire & Rescue crews in Lemon Grove responded to reports of a structure fire in the 8000 block of Alton Drive around 8:30 this morning. Firefighters found heavy smoke coming from the windows of a duplex unit and a woman halfway out of a window at the rear of the duplex. 

Heartland Firefighters worked quickly to rescue the woman through the rear window while additional fire crews had the fire extinguished in approximately 15 minutes.  The fire was contained to a rear bedroom, but there was heavy heat and smoke damage throughout the unit.  Damage has been estimated at $50,000. 

The woman rescued from the fire declined medical transport.  The exact cause of the fire is under investigation by the San Diego County Sheriff’s Bomb & Arson Team.
