December 4, 2010 (San Diego's East County) – This fall, as part of the Helix Water District’s watershed awareness campaign, a photo contest was held for residents that live within the Lake Jennings watershed. The District has now announced the winner—Sid Cavey who lives near the reservoir and submitted a spectacular photo of a rainbow over the Lake, which is located in Lakeside.

Cavey is the recipient of a one-day free boat rental at Lake Jennings, and his photo will appear in the Lake Jennings Watershed Protection brochure and on the Lake Jennings Watershed Protection magnet. Residents within the watershed will receive these by mail, and they can be viewed on-line at www.hwd.com.

Helix Water District has two local reservoirs—Lake Cuyamaca and Lake Jennings. Watershed protection is one of the primary responsibilities of the District. Helix encourages residents around the reservoirs to assist in keeping the watershed clean by limiting the use of pesticides, properly disposing of animal waste and chemical pollutants.
