April 4, 2017 (Los Angeles) - After an abysmal showing on Opening Day, the Padres tried again in game two with Clayton Richard on the mound against Kenta Maeda.

Contrary to last night, the Padres jumped out to a lead quickly in the first.  Yangervis Solarte singled to score Travis Jankowski and the Padres took a 1-0 lead.  Ryan Schimpf hit a sac fly to score Wil Myers and the Padres were up 2-0 quickly.

In the third, Solarte knocked out a solo homer to give the Padres a 3-0 lead.

Shockingly, the Padres were able to play good defense and hold onto the lead for the majority of the game.  They did add one more in the eighth when Manuel Margot ran the bases himself and Myers drove him in with a single.  The Padres evened the series at one win apiece with a 4-0 win.

Game three is tomorrow at 7:10 p.m.  Trevor Cahill will start for the Padres against Rich Hill.
