March 25, 2010 (Jamul) – Detectives at the Lemon Grove Sheriff’s substation have determined that the
Alleged kidnapping of a 12-year-old boy in Jamul was a hoax. After detectives noted inconsistencies in his story, the youth ultimately confessed to detectives that he had made up the story after he was caught away from his home after dark.

The boy embellished on people in his neighborhood, and a truck he had seen to enhance his story. The boy also inflicted scratches to his arm with a stick, to make the story more believable. The boy was not arrested, but the investigation is continuing with Lemon Grove juvenile detectives.
