LA MESA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE PREPARES FOR SALUTE TO LOCAL HEROES AND ANNOUNCES 10TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION

January 8, 2018 (La Mesa) -  In 2018, the La Mesa Chamber of Commerce is celebrating their 10th anniversary and this year’s “Salute to Local Heroes” is a special evening that begins this year-long celebration. La Mesa is known as the “Jewel of the Hills” and this evening will be the first “jewel” of this celebratory year that is themed, “One Jewel of a Night.” This evening will honor local heroes, install the Board of Directors and includes a silent auction, raffles and a delicious dinner. This special evening will be held on Thursday, March 8, 2018, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Town & Country Resort Hotel (Town & Country Ballroom), 500 Hotel Circle North in Mission Valley. 

This special evening celebrates the strength of the community, those heroes who work tirelessly to serve the community, and the members and sponsors who have made the Chamber’s 10th anniversary a reality. The special men and women that will be honored are from law enforcement, the fire district, the paramedic field and members of the retired senior volunteer patrol. 

The Chamber is currently beginning to obtain sponsors and to date are: Community Relations Media Sponsor – The East County Herald who is joined by: American Medical Response, The Town & County Resort Hotel, Studio M.I.F., Kirk Paving, Inc., AAA Imaging, Kostedt Design & Marketing. Courtesy TV - Sales & Service and Sandra Small Photographer who will provide her special services as our “Director of Photography” for the evening. 

The event is open to the public with an individual ticket price of $85, 2 tickets for $150 and a table of 8 tickets for $600. All ticket holders receive complimentary parking. “This unique event celebrates the strength of the community and honors eight local heroes that serve, protect and make sacrifices for our La Mesa community,” said La Mesa Chamber President and CEO Mary England.

This year’s honorees include: Alex England, emergency medical technician, and Ben Schafer, medic, American Medical Response; Greg McAlpine, deputy chief, and Matthew Kirk, captain, Heartland Fire and Rescue; Eric Knudson, master officer, and Carlos Gaytan, officer, La Mesa Police Department; Mike Boatright and Chuck Jackson, both volunteers, La Mesa Police Department Retired Senior Volunteer Patrol.
